Reciprocal hip joint system – especially for children

The 17H100 Reciprocating Gait Orthosis was designed with a biaxial joint construction that approximates the physiological pelvic rotation when walking. Patients also enjoy improved walking speed at a lower energy expenditure.

Indications
The Reciprocating Hip Joint System was specially designed for patients with a body weight up to 65 kg. It is indicated for children with spina bifida or traumatic paraplegia, lesion level Th5-L2.

Restrictions
Restrictions must be made for patients with ICP, motor perception disorders, movement deficits of the upper extremities, insufficient muscle strength in the shoulder girdle, loss of trunk mobility in the frontal or sagittal plane, severe deformities of the skeletal system (e.g. scoliosis, dislocations), hip flexion contracture (> 20°), knee joint flexion contracture (> 15°), torsional deformities of the legs (> 20°), and knee joint flexion contracture (> 15°).

Initial position. The legs are parallel in the frontal plane.

At heel strike and with rotated pelvis the legs remain oriented in walking direction.

Технически детайли:

The pelvic module can be customised

- Due to the self-carrying tube construction, the stability remains entirely intact regardless of the pelvic module.
- Concurrent "growing along" of the joint system is feasible due to easy exchange of components.

Special features:
- Easy use due to modular system.
- Discrete components allow the orthosis to grow with the child.
- Torsion-proof light metal pelvic tube allows for modular connection of joints.
- The biaxial system allows the pelvis to rotate 15° without changing the walking direction.
- Smooth and maintenance-free power transmission of the walking movement due to push-pull-cable.
- Sitting joint lock releases with pre-release of the locking mechanism.
- Safety button for re-lock in case of accidental pre-release of sitting joint.
- The customised pelvic module can be fabricated with Thermoplast or lamination technology.
- Quick disassembly of the torso bar.
- Torso bar hip flexion adjusts up to 10°.
- Prefabricated thigh bars of light metal with 0, 5 or 10 mm offset available.
- Thigh bar and hip joint detach and connect easily.

Effects:
When walking with the orthosis, the movements are transferred reciprocally. For this purpose, the two hip joints are functionally coupled to each other via a push-pull-cable.

The biaxial joint system consists of a joint for sitting and a joint for walking.
The joints operate independently and individually.
When the patient sits, the walking joint is locked. When the patient walks, the sitting joint is locked.
