Shape 2 combines traditional vacuum forming techniques with current digitising methods. The time formerly required for plaster impression hardening is no longer needed. Functional simulations allow for the impression to be tested and modified for as long as needed and until all parties involved are satisfied with the result. Users needs can be addressed directly and in detail. The gathered data is then used online for the industrial manufacturing of the customised pads. This allows for fast, accurate and clean work in the workshop or on site.   Easy to use Data is generated using the digitiser stylus. Contrary to the traditional plaster technique, this method does not require a plaster impression or the crafting and modelling of a plaster model. The result: precision work topped with the additional benefit of reproducibility based on the collected data. This is particularly useful for follow-up fittings. The digital model can be checked for proper seat width and depth as well as back height and seat angle. The software allows to make changes to the model at any time. Surface textures can also be generated to simulate a real seating shell pad. Both views can be viewed and compared with each other on the monitor. The data is then transmitted online. The Shape 2 procedure can thus generate bare padding interiors or foamed seat cushions. The final result: A precisely fitted impression of the body. Subsequent fittings are easily carried out thanks to the reproducibility of the gathered data. The Shape 2 system is operated in conjunction with an IBM-compatible PC. (At least Pentium IV 1.6 GHz, 256 MB RAM, 120 MB free disk space. Windows 2000 with Service Pack 1, XP compatible.) A variety of viewing possibilities convey an accurate and realistic image of the proposed fitting. Rotation and zoom functions allow to visualise and evaluate the later fit. The outer dimensions and other features can be post-edited at any time.
